The day was sunny, but I was in a bad mood. At the oncoming party I Would have to do some cleaning, for I was considered unable to dance or sing. I eould not but accept the task.
During the party, I tried hard to keep the room clean, and after he party I got rid of the rubbish. When seeing all those present joyful, I felt my job worthwhile.
When being told that the entire room would have been a dustbin without me, I thought of a well-known saying, “There must be a use for my talent.”My friends, you may have no special talent, but as long as you do your utmost to dowell everything useful, you will find everything is beautiful at every corner of your life.
To witness immoral behavior in public, one need only visit the Beijing subway. I still remember the first time I took the Beijing subway. It was an early morning. I was in a hurry to go to school. When I was trying to get a ticket, I found a lot of people waiting in front of me, but nobody was in the line.Immoral behaviors in public exert a series of problems. One of the most serious ones is that it may exert a negative impact on our sense of social responsibility. We will keep ignoring other people’s rights and feelings, and in turn, we too will be disrespected some day.
The improvement of this phenomenon is certainly not easy. With an eye on practical implementation and cost effectiveness, I propose that society make it clear in every way that people who fail to respect the common good will be seriously punished. Stricter policies for this should be made to correct this phenomenon as soon as possible.
The Establishment, however, has traditionally believed that people should be rewarded according to their age and experience. Ability counts for less. As the Establishment controls the purse strings, its views are inevitably imposed on society. Employers pay the smallest sum consistent with keeping you in a job.
You join the hierarchy and take your place in the queue. If you are young, you go to the very end of queue and stay there no matter how brilliant you are. What you know is much less important than whom you know and how old you are. If you are able, your abilities will be acknowledged and rewarded in due course—that is, after twenty or thirty years have passed. By the time you will be considered old enough to join the Establishment and you will be expected to adopt its ideals. God help you if you don’t.www.mfzlk.com
There seems to be a gigantic conspiracy against young people. While on the one hand society provides them with better educational facilities, on the other it does its best to exclude them from the jobs that really matter. There are exceptions, of course
Billions of dollars are spent on entertainment every year, in every country in the world. Much of this money is spent on either movies or fictional books, as these two types of entertainment are found to be most enjoyable by the masses. Which, however, is more enjoyable? I posit that these mediums cannot be compared so easily, as they both have their strong points in regards to entertainment.
When one reads a fictional book, one is able to let his/her imagination run wild. Everything from the setting to the character descriptions is left up to the reader’s mind, and therefore can be quite enjoyable. Depending on the novel, of course, one can imagine far away places just by the description read in the novel. Books are also an excellent form of entertainment as they are portable. If one is on a long commute to work, which is common in Beijing, one can bring along a favorite novel, effectively taking his/her entertainment with him/her. Books can be enjoyed in any setting. They can be picked up on a whim, and put down again to return to at a later time.Movies, of course, also have their own benefits. Movies allow the viewer to be completely engrossed in the plot. There is no need for thinking, as everything is presented to you in a straightforward form. One never has to ponder what a place or a person looks like; the information is all accessible to the viewer. This can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on what one is looking for in his/her entertainment.
In a society where we want everything faster, better and more exciting, perhaps movies are a more relevant medium. However, movies demand at least an hour and a half of one’s time. Books are available to their consumers whenever there is time, which is also an important feature. In conclusion, I believe that neither books nor movies are a more enjoyable form of entertainment. In some cases, I prefer to read a book. In others, a movie is vastly more enjoyable. It is up to the consumer to decide
Spring is no longer that shy girl in my memory, who came very late, hesitated in the distance, overwhelmed by shyness until I waved to her. Then she would scurry happily nearer, stop feet away, waiting to be hugged. But here and now, she, at the sight of me, grabs my hands and pulls me into her arms before I know what's happening.
So here I am, a boy accustomed to the drab and dry and dreary spring of the north, devouring the sweetness of a south
It rained days ago and everything glistens with moisture.Trees grow with new leaves of lively light green, not the dull and dusty color of winter. Several cherries are in full blossom now, with flowers clustering and squeezing and squabbling on the twigs. What attract me most are the meadows, the greenish yellow meadows.
Sprawling on the meadows with grasses kissing my face, I can hear the rustling of leaves in the brisk breeze, the whispering and chuckling and bickering of birds, and the trotting, shuffling, tramping of people passing by.
I can smell the refreshing fragrance that pervades the air, fragrance of flowering magnolias and growing grasses and moist soil. I inhale the fresh air as deeply as I can and the aroma in vades my whole being.
Also, I can see the fallen leaves of platanes wafting around like butterflies flying from one flower to another. Once so high above on the treetops enduring the trials of bitter cold and blustering gale, they are so easily torn loose by a warm breeze. Why?
I cannot help thinking of our situation. We Chinese defy any powerful enemy, but how come we have been so easily attacked by SARS?
The Internet seems to have become an indispensable part in modern lire. This is because the Internet has a lor of advantages. To begin with, the Internet provides people with enormous amounts of information in a fraction of a second. With this easy access to the Internet, searching for information has become easier than ever before. Besides, the Internet changes the way people communicate with each other. E mail allows us to write to our friends and receive letters from our friends cheaply and instantly. Furthermore, the Internet has revolutionized business. E-commerce enables people to do business and go shopping at home easily and conveniently. Finally, the Internet plays an important role in mass education.
However, the Internet also has some unfavorable aspects. Cyber crime causes a great loss in people's property. Computer viruses bring us lots of trouble. Trash mail is always a nuisance to everyone. Worst of all, pornography may corrupt people, especially young people.
In a word, the Internet has both merits and demerits. But on the whole, it brings peop[e more benefits than harm. It is suggested that a clever use be made of this modern technique for the benefit of all people.
Nowadays people are troubled with mass of dishonest behaviors in society. Teachers get annoyed when they catch students cheating on exams; consumers get hurt when they unfortunately buy some fake products; children are misled when they see their parents tell lies so as to evade the responsibility they should take.
Why do people cheat? The main reason probably lies in immediate interest they may obtain by cheating. For example, a company, which manufactures fake products, may seem to win for a moment because it can minimize its manufacture cost by doing so. This kind of businesses, however, will be driven out of the market in the long run. For the consumers after getting to know the poor quality of the products will not buy them anymore.
The same is true of individuals. Dishonest people dare not take on the responsibility of life. They cheat in class, in office, at home and so on. But the truth can hardly be masked. The moment the truth comes out they will lose their credibility, which is easier to destroy than to rebuild. Consequently, these dishonest will suffer a long time because of their cheating behaviors. In conclusion, no one can afford to be dishonest in a civilized society.
Honesty is the pillar of a society. People will benefit from being honest in the long run. That’s why we say it pays to be honest.
People's ideas on scores vary from person to person. Some think that scores are very important. They think in this way because scores have always been the only means to tell whether a student has a good command of the subject they have learned. To illustrate, they say scores are often used to determine whether a student should go to college or not. Scores are also used to decide whether he can further his study after graduation. Scores are still used to decide whether he can get a job in the job market. Others, on the other hand, holdthat scores are not so important as practical knowledge. They suggest that students with high scores at school are not necessarily competent in their work after graduation. Our society does not need those who can perform very well in examinations; instead, it needs those with practical skills.
I think both of the above views have their limitations. Having lots of theoretical knowledge without enough practical skills is no good, nor is having lots of practical skills without enough theoretical knowledge. Only when we have a combination of both, can we be called qualified students of new China.
I searched in memory and at last found myself surprised at what was brought back. Here is what I used to be. Once, I was simply a creature of schedules. That means I was so well planned a girl that I was entirely loyal to everything arranged.Every day you caught me as busy as a diligent ant and it was true that I actually enjoy the full and colorful life led which in other's eyes was utterly a dull and routine mode. I would not make any compromises to change the plans plans about study, plans about future, and plans about love.
To some degree, I deliberately avoided being hit by the current of love for fear that it might destroy my perfectly planned life. I did not expect its arrival. I didn't expect its power so magic and influential. And I certainly didn't expect its coming accompanied with the purest feelings of blessing.
Tall, straight and shining that is my boyfriend. That was the way he came to me: “How do you do? We are from the same high school. I am two grades senior,do you know?” He greeted me in a confident and gentle manner, and his hairstyle impressed me deeply.
Later on, the life pattern which I strictly stick to has been gradually affected by his moving behaviors. None of a day will I find him absent from waiting outside my dorm to pick me up to classroom. None of a night will end without our heated and joyful chat. Gradually, I was incredibly thrown to cultivate a fresh view on the surroundings which didn't seem as burdening as expetted. I began to adjust myself to enjoy the peaceful pace of life.
And so it goes, the sweet, joyful and romantic freshman year, a year with love that changed my way to live.
Nobody denies that competitions for prizes can bring people's initiative into full play. Encouraged by a strong desire to win a prize, one will go all out to seek his greatest success. Consequently, the best achievement will be obtained in a game with awards.
However, the stimulation of a prize does not always lead to desirable results. For example, a competitor who is too eager for the prize is likely to take a stimulant drug. And some competitor sees nothing but the prize, which might cause improper behavior.
Generally speaking, I believe that prizes are a good thing. In my opinion, the remedy lies in moral education of competitors. This will help them to understand the slogan: “Friendship first, competition second. “Besides, those who do not comply with competitive rules must be severely punished. Then, prizes will play a better part in any contest.
